Fernandez Honored with Hall of Fame Induction

Mexico City, Mexico (October 9, 2010) -- Adrian Fernandez was inducted into the Mexican Auto Racing Federation Hall of Fame yesterday evening in a ceremony held at the headquarters of the Federacion Mexicana de Automovilismo Deportivo, A.C. (FEMADAC) in Mexico City. Fernandez's 29-year career was commemorated with the unveiling of a plaque to immortalize his achievements in auto racing.

"Adrian Fernandez is a true institution in the motorsports world," said Jose Jassen, President of FEMADAC. "He is not only a great driver, but a smart businessman and a great friend to all of us, always willing to help and give honest advice. We have wanted to induct Adrian into the Auto Racing Hall of Fame for a long time, and his visit to Mexico gave us the opportunity. We are very happy to recognize all of his achievements and work. He is an inspiration for the new generations and he still remains as competitive behind the wheel as when I first met him."

With the induction, Fernandez joins an illustrious group of accomplished Mexican racers and industry leaders including his idols Ricardo and Pedro Rodriguez as well as Moises Solana and Hector Rebaque to name a few.

"It is an honor to be included in a group that has made such an impact on motorsports in Mexico and inspired so many," said Fernandez, "and I have to thank Jose Jassen for this recognition. I was able to reach my dreams and goals through the support of many people who believed in me. Now my focus is on helping the next generation and the rising talents we have in drivers like Sergio Perez and Esteban Gutierrez, who bring the excitement of Formula One back to Mexico. This is my ideal legacy."

Fernandez, an offical works driver for Aston Martin Racing in the 007 Lowe's entry, entered his first auto race in 1981 -- the 24 Hours of Mexico. His diverse career has included wins at the top levels of professional motorsports including Champ Car, IndyCar, Grand-Am and American Le Mans Series competition as well as eight starts in the NASCAR Nationwide Series for Team Lowe's Racing. Alongside teammate Luis Diaz, he mostly recently claimed the 2009 American Le Mans Series LMP2 team and driver championships.

His achievements have resulted in numerous awards including "Athlete of the Year" in Mexico, a nomination for Mexico's National Sports Award (Premio Nacional del Deportes), recognition at the U.S. Premios Fox Sports Awards for his contributions to Latin American auto racing and, in June, the prestigious Pedro Rodriguez trophy for the top Mexican driver in 2009 alongside Diaz.

In addition to Fernandez's family -- including his parents, wife Catalina and his uncles Santiago and Jose Fernandez, who were responsible for Fernandez's start in his career -- FIA Vice President Jose Abed and race promoter Manuel Medina were present for the ceremony as well as fellow drivers Luis Diaz, Mario Dominguez, Benito Guerra and Alfonso Toledano, Jr.
