2005 Is Go For Binnie Motorsports

Binnie Motorsports is pleased to announce the acquisition of a new Lola LMP-2 B05/40. The car will be powered by a Nicholson-McLaren normally aspirated V-8.

The 2005 Driver Line-up for BinnieMotorsports will be Adam Sharpe, Bobby Julien and William Binnie.

William Binnie, Team Principal of Binnie Motorsports said, "We are delighted to be working with Lola and Nicholson-McLaren and we are extremely optimistic about the speed and capabilities of this new race car."

"Our 2005 schedule includes Sebring and the five European LMES 1000K races and our season's ambition is the 24 Heures du Mans. We have made a major commitment to the new ACO rules with the purchase of this new Lola race car, which will meet all of the new 2005 ACO specifications. As a new team, we believe it is important to state that we are a fully committed and funded race team and it is our intention to compete in both Europe and the United States in 2005."

"We are especially excited about our driver line-up. All of our drivers are quick, experienced and proven race winners and we are delighted to have Adam Sharpe and Bobby Julien on board," continued Binnie.

Binnie Motorsports' Team Manager will be Murray Smith and Crew Chief will be Pat Twinley who was also crew chief on the winning 24 Heures du Mans effort in LMP-2 in 2004. "Murray and Pat have extensive experience in motorsports and have been involved in winning at all levels including Le Mans, Daytona 24 Hour and a number of World Championship races and their input will be invaluable," said Binnie. Murray Smith was team manager for Courage and the de Cadenet racing efforts at Le Mans and in the World Championships as well as deeply involved in the conception and organization of the Viper GTSR project at Chrysler, which led to successive victories at Le Mans, in the World Championship, and overall victory at the Rolex 24 at Daytona.

Drivers Background:

William Binnie is the 2004 24 Heures du Mans LMP-2 champion. He has been involved in all forms of modern and historic motorsports for many years including ALMS, LMES and Le Mans as well as the Goodwood Historic Festival, BRDC Championship and the Ferrari Shell Challenge. As an example of his passion for motorsports, he not only won his class at the modern 24 Heures du Mans in 2004 but also won his class in the 2004 Historic 24 Heures du Mans race in his 1965 GT-40. William, who was born in Scotland, resides in the United States and has dual British and American nationalities.

Bobby Julien is a young French Canadian who also resides in the United States and in 2004 he won the GT Class at the 2004 Daytona 24-Hour. He has been actively involved in racing in the United States and has competed in Prototype racing in ALMS and GT racing in the Grand Am Race Series.

Adam Sharpe is the brilliant young English racing driver who was successfully involved in Morgan's assault last year at Le Mans. In 2004, Adam also successfully competed in the British GT Cup Championship where he went on to lead his team to the Constructors British GT Cup Team Championship and took second overall in the Drivers Championship. One of his many highlights in 2004 included a great win at Brands Hatch in October in the British GT Championship where he qualified on pole and went on to win outright, securing the Constructors Championship for his team. The young 20 year old shares both Australian and British nationalities and resides in England.

The first race for the team will be the Sebring 12-Hour in March.

William Binnie and Adam Sharpe are being interviewed on the main Autosport Stage at next weeks Autosport International Racing Car Show at the NEC in Birmingham.
