Bleekemolen And MacNeil Score GTC Driver Championship

Alex Job Racing’s Jeroen Bleekemolen and Cooper MacNeil started off the season with a win at Sebring and ended with the driver championship.

Alex Job Racing’s Jeroen Bleekemolen and Cooper MacNeil started off the season with a win at Sebring and ended with the driver championship.

Jeroen Bleekemolen and Cooper MacNeil won the American Le Mans Series' GT Challenge driver championship for Alex Job Racing while Seth Neiman's Flying Lizard Motorsports was the class championship team.

The Bleekemolen-McNeil tandem won at Sebring and Mosport and added four pole positions.

"We wanted to finish off the season and the championship the right way by winning the race," said Bleekemolen, the class' fourth-place finisher at Petit Le Mans. "The championship was the bigger picture and that was our goal at the beginning of the season."

MacNeil agreed the year was filled with ups and downs but the points fell right at the end.

"Two (championship) years in a row," he said. "The Alex Job guys gave us a great car."

Job's drivers have won five ALMS titles – GTC in 2012-13 and GT in 2002-04.

Flying Lizard Motorsports, based in Sonoma, Calif., added its first GTC team title to three ALMS driver championships. Spencer Pumpelly, ALMS Rookie of the Year Nelson Canache and Madison Snow shared the team's Petit Le Mans-winning No. 45 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car.

Porsche's Hartmut Kristen accepted a Special Promoters Award for the manufacturer's stalwart participation throughout the 15 years of the ALMS in which Porsche supported all 147 races in one form or another.
