Flying Lizard Welcomes PortalPlayer as New Sponsor for Monterey Sports Car Championships

October 13, 2005 - Sonoma, CA - Heading into the Monterey Sports Car Championships this weekend at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, Flying Lizard Motorsports' No. 44 and No. 45 Porsches will sport the PortalPlayer (Nasdaq: PLAY) name and music note logo for the final race of the 2005 ALMS season. PortalPlayer, based in San Jose, CA, develops chips and software for today's most popular MP3 personal media players. PortalPlayer joins current Flying Lizard 2005 sponsors eSilicon and ShoreTel on the livery of the team's two red, black, and silver Porsche 911 GT3 RSRs.

"PortalPlayer is delighted to be a part of the Flying Lizard program for the ALMS season finale," said PortalPlayer CEO Gary Johnson. "Like the leaders in racing, PortalPlayer is a winning team in our industry. There are many parallels between leading technology companies and leading racing teams. It's about teamwork, commitment, communication, and most importantly, being able to plan for the expected while still preparing for the unanticipated."

"It is wonderful to have PortalPlayer with us at Laguna," added Seth Neiman, Flying Lizard principal. "The level of intensity and focus they bring to their business is much like the racing world. We both leverage innovation and hard work to compete and win."

Currently third in the chase for the 2005 ALMS GT2 Drivers' championship, Flying Lizard is focused on a strong finish to their second season. "After a strong showing at the Petit Le Mans earlier this month, we are looking forward to a competitive race at Laguna," said Flying Lizard crew chief Tommy Sadler. "No team can afford to back off for this race. At four hours, it's the third-longest race of the season and one of the toughest courses on the ALMS circuit. Combine that with a large field, sunset, and an hour of night racing, and you have a challenging event. We are going into the weekend to race fast and finish with the top of our field."
