October 4, 2002 Miami, FL -- Archangel Motorsports hopes to start a new podium streak at this weekend's Cadillac American Le Mans Challenge -- Grand Prix Americas on the streets of downtown Miami on Saturday, October 5. The championship-winning sportscar squad saw an end to their 27 straight podium streak with a 4th place finish at the Monterey Sportscar Championships.

Other than the Petit Le Mans at their home base of Road Atlanta in Georgia, this race in Miami offers the team a little respite from the drudgery and high cost of season-long cross-country travel. With Miami a mere 12 hours away from Atlanta the team had a little more time to work on the car -- and a little more time with their families and loved ones.

"Our refreshed and revived crew is well prepared for the race this weekend," said team owner Mike Johnson. "We're still trying hard to beat the MG's and because our car has been really good on the street we have hopes for a strong finish this weekend."

Bret Arsenault will join British ace Ben Devlin in the team's #13 Marshall Cook Millington-powered Lola B2K/40. Devlin currently trails Intersports Jon Field by only 14 points in the race for the LMP 675 Driver's Championship and could ass him by and take the lead -- if he has a good finish this weekend -- and Field has a bad one.

"This weekend has to be one of the highlights of the year," said Devlin. "It is our 'Monaco GP' - and a race I'm really looking forward to. Although we didn't make the podium at the last race the team has got the car working the best it's been all year. We're hoping for a return to a top three finish. A good result here will mean we go to our home track Road Atlanta still fighting for the championship."

The 2-hour and 45-minute timed event will be televised live on the Speed Channel beginning at 4:00pm EDT. For the very first time ALMS will share the weekend event with CART -- which will race on Sunday, October 6. This is the first-ever pairing of the two very popular racing series.
