Double-world Challenge pole position and third in ALMS Qualifying for Sofronas in Mid-Ohio

August 6, 2010 (Lexington, Ohio) -- It's a busy weekend for James Sofronas, but he's gotten his weekend off in the best pay possible. Friday's World Challenge qualifying session saw him take pole position and earn pole position for both World Challenge races this weekend driving the No. 14 GMG Porsche 911 GT3-WC.

"This was really great, especially because I didn't know it was a double-pole session until I was done," Sofronas said. "I'm obviously very excited because this is a busy weekend. I'll probably have 10 hours total in a car this weekend including the ALMS race. It's just a testament to the GMG guys, they're really working overtime here. I'm really proud of Aki Fuchigama and Todd Ketcham, who spent the long hours to get my car perfect. It's as fast as it can go right now, we maxed it out. We know we have a good race set-up because we've been running on used tires, and running good times. I'm really excited about our set-up and with Stoptech I know we can out-brake anyone at the end of the race."

Backing that up, Sofronas steered the No. 32 GMG / Spectra Resources Porsche 911 GT3 Cup that he shares with Bret Curits to third in GT-Challenge qualifying for Saturday's Mid Ohio Sports Car Challenge, the sixth round of the American Le Mans Series.

World Challenge teammates Dino Crescentini, in the No. 4 GMG / Stoptech Porsche 911 GT3-WC and William Ziegler, in the No. 05 GMG / Swisher Porsche 911 GT3-WC, qualified seventh and 14th respectively for the weekend's World Challenge races.
