INTERSPORT ADJUSTING TO TWO-CAR EFFORT

This week has been quite a challenging one for Intersport Racing. For the first time since the 12 Hours of Sebring in 2005, the Dublin, Ohio-based team is fielding two cars in the American Le Mans Series. Team owner Clint Field, Jon Field and Richard Berry are in the No. 37 Lola B06/10-AER with newcomers Ryan Lewis and John Faulkner in the No. 30 entry.

Both cars are powered by cellulosic E85.

Gearbox and turbo problems have been a source of concern for Intersport so far in practice for the Acura Sports Car Challenge at Mid-Ohio. But when everything has been clicking, the two cars have been more than respectable. That's a good thing considering that adjusting to a new car and a new style of racing is enough to keep Lewis and Faulkner occupied.

"This is definitely different and I'm still learning," said Lewis, who will start fourth in LMP1 and 12th overall. "It's my first time at Mid-Ohio and my first time in the Series so it's hard to share the car. Hopefully we can stay among the P2 cars. These cars are a lot quicker on a straight line than anything I've ever driven. This car has something like 600hp compared to 300hp in Atlantics so that's a big difference. Everyone has been really courteous. The GT cars are always looking in their mirrors and we're trying to do the same."
