NBC Sports to have expanded coverage of American Le Mans Race from Mosport event.

BRASELTON, Ga. (August 11, 2003) -- NBC Sports will have expanded live coverage of Sunday's American Le Mans Series Grand Prix of Mosport, presenting a two-hour, 30-minute telecast of the professional sports car racing event at the Toronto-area Mosport International Raceway.

NBC Sports will be on the air from 2 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. (EDT), adding 30 minutes to its normal two-hour telecasts of American Le Mans Series races. The timed two-hour, 45-minute race begins at 1:30 p.m. and the telecast will join the race in progress.

"The expanded format for this telecast will allow us to bring more live racing action to our viewers, as well as tell more stories about the unique aspects and personalities of the American Le Mans Series," said Bill Herbstman, Production Coordinator for NBC Sports. "Mosport is a track that always produces lots of action and we look forward to presenting a great show on NBC Sports."

Rick Benjamin will be the anchor announcer for the Mosport telecast, with Bill Adam providing race analysis. Martin Haven and Jon Beekhuis will report the action from the pits and Tracy Wolfson will be feature reporter. The telecast will be produced by Jim Roller for Wheeler TV and directed by Billy McCoy.

The telecast from Mosport will be the second of three NBC Sports telecasts of American Le Mans Series races this season. The network will also televise the Sept. 7 event from Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in Monterey, Calif.
