Sebring display pays tribute to legendary cars

Sebring, FL. - Race fans attending the 52nd Annual Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring will be able to see some of the most historically significant cars ever to compete at the famed road racing circuit. The Gallery of Legends display, located in the paddock, will contain a diverse group of racecars seldom seen on public display.

Gates open on Wednesday, March 17, and remain open 24 hours a day through Saturday. America's premier sports car race kicks-off the 2004 American Le Mans Series, featuring the world's best sports car racing teams.

The OSCA MT-4 that carried Stirling Moss and Bill Lloyd to a stunning upset victory in 1954 will be on display. As an added treat for race fans, Moss will take the OSCA on a parade lap prior to the start of the 12-hour classic on Saturday.

An original Shelby Daytona Coupe will be on display, in honor of 2004 Sebring Grand Marshal Carroll Shelby. The legendary driver and car builder will be inducted into the Sebring Sports Car Racing Hall of Fame along with Mario Andretti, Sir Stirling Moss, Bob and Al Holbert, Bobby Rahal, race official Ford Heacock Sr and the legendary manufacturer Ferrari.

Two Porsches made famous by Bob and Al Holbert will be included in the Gallery of Legends. Race fans will be able to see the Holbert Porsche 962 (chassis #103), which won nine International Motor Sports Association (IMSA) races during the 1980s. In addition, a Porsche RS61 driven at Sebring by Bob Holbert will be included.

A Jaguar XJR-7 racecar, designed and raced by Bob Tullius'Group 44, Inc., will round out this exciting attraction at America's most prestigious road racing event.
