Sebring: Green Earth Team Gunnar comments on IMSA decision

It was announced April 7th, 2010 that the American Le Mans Series (ALMS) has reinstated the #99 and #95 LMPC Prototypes to their original finishing positions at the grueling 12 hours of Sebring.

Team owner Kevin Jeannette said, "Our G-Oil #99 LMPC car almost performed perfectly at the toughest 12 hours of racing in the world! Had it not been for the failure of a front hub we might have had a run for the top of the podium. I am so pleased how the team and drivers performed, we couldn't have asked for a better start in the new LMPC class of the ALMS. We are really pleased that Scott Atherton and his crew at ALMS never stopped trying to figure out the confusion of the new regulations. There were a few 'glitches' in the rules and they ended up being re-written in the process! That was good news for the Green Earth Team Gunnar #99 car. I think this new LMPC class is the best new racing we could be a part of and we are really thankful to be reinstated and get the second place points."

"Fabulous to finally get the official news that our G-Oil not only achieved the first LMPC pole for Gunnar Jeannette but also proved that we can run with the performance of any other oil out there. Our G-Oil not only did four days of practice but ran the race and finished on the podium. We at Green Earth Technologies couldn't be happier. Kevin Jeannette, owner of Green Earth Team Gunnar says he's left most of the oil that had run more than 16 grueling hours of testing and racing in the car! He said during the race we had no problems with oil loss or over heating because of oil breakdown. We are just adding oil to replace what is lost in changing the filters and the removal of the engine to check clutch wear and any other problem that may have occurred during the very tough week at Sebring. We are going to introduce our first national TV commercial during the Long Beach race next weekend and are very happy with the way the American Le Mans Series re-adjusted the finish position for the G-Oil prototype. The fact that my first pole in the American Le Mans Series was with Green Earth Team Gunnar is sweet! Mark Schomann, our team engineer has been with working with my Dad for about 100 years, so it was very cool to have this be an 'all in the family' thing. Christian couldn't have done a better job in the car, and Elton shook off some of the rust to turn in a stellar drive! The team includes some of the best in the business and they were fantastic and penalty free the whole race, including a fast repair replacing a complete front hub assembly. Thank you to Scott Atherton and company for never giving up on the rules clarification. I was a little worried that something would have been missed, but the ALMS has proven its commitment to ensuring that there are a set of rules understood by both the teams and the sanctioning body. We're off to Long Beach with one thing in mind... winning!"

I got the call-up to race from Kevin, sweated through my accreditation with IMSA, got back into the swim with testing, Gunnar put it on the pole, worked through a few problems in the race, bounced back to P2 at the end, lost P2 when we got excluded, had to cut short the celebrations with my team, and finally got P2 back and the points that go with it. Unforgettable! I had such a great week with Green Earth Team Gunnar and can't thank them enough for the opportunity to race again. I'm thrilled they've asked me back for my home race at Long Beach, and I'm looking forward to helping the team and G-Oil climb the top step of the podium there."
