BRASELTON, Ga. (August 21, 2003) -- The American Le Mans Series will return to the SPEED Channel for live coverage of the Road America 500 presented by The Chicago Tribune on Sunday, August 24, from Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wis.

The three hour telecast will include live coverage of the entire two-hour, 45-minute timed race, as well as pre-race and post-race coverage. Three of the past four races for the series have been telecast on CBS and NBC Sports.

Leigh Diffey will be the anchor announcer for the telecast, joined in the booth for race analysis by Bill Adam. Martin Haven, Brian Till and Andrew Marriott will report the action from the pits as the professional sports car racing teams battle each other and the challenging 4-mile circuit.

At least five in-car cameras will be a part of the telecast, the third of five American Le Mans Series races that will appear on SPEED in 2003. The broadcast will cover the action and stories of the race in all four classes of competition within the ALMS.

Wheeler Television will produce the telecast of the Road America 500 for SPEED Channel. Wheeler TV Executive Producer will be Patti Wheeler, while the show producer will be Jim Roller. Billy McCoy will direct the telecast.

SPEED Channel also had live, flag-to-flag coverage of the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring that opened the American Le Mans Series season in March, and the recent running of Le Grand Prix de Trois-Rivieres from Canada. In addition, the growing cable network will also cover the Sept. 27 race from Miami and the season-ending Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta on Oct. 18.
