ZYTEK CHALLENGES US FRONT-RUNNERS

Zytek Motorsport has entered the final two rounds of the American Le Mans Series with its incredibly rapid LMP2 contender. Having proved to be the fastest car in its class in Europe, the Zytek 07S will now take on the might of Porsche, Audi and Acura at the Petit Le Mans and Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca races.

The announcement that the factory 07S will cross the Atlantic follows a week after a pair of such cars finished a dominant first and second place in the LMP2 class at the Silverstone 1,000kms. The 07S entered for the two US races is the one that, early on, led all the other gasoline-fuelled cars in the race, only to be forced to the back of the field by an alternator problem. Drivers Danny Watts and Tom Kimber-Smith then proved to be the class of the field as they carved their way back to second in the LMP2 category behind the similar Zytek 07S of the Gulf Barazi Epsilon team. The same car also came second in class at this year's Le Mans 24-hour race behind another Zytek ZG348-engined contender.

The car is the same that Adrian Fernandez, Robbie Kerr and Haruki Kurosawa drove to a second-place P2 finish at Le Mans in June.

Englishman Watts will again drive this 07S in the Petit Le Mans event, a prestigious 1,000-mile or 10-hour race at Road Atlanta on October 6. He will be joined by Germany's Stefan Mucke and Czech Jan Charouz who have, this season, stunned the Le Mans Series regulars in Europe with their speed in the Charouz Racing System LMP1 car.

Former DTM racer Mucke will again drive the Zytek 07S at Laguna Seca in the four-hour event there on October 20. A second, very quick driver, whose name has yet to be released, has been confirmed for this race.
