2005-2006 Regional and National Arenacross Series Schedules Announced

AURORA, Ill. (July 8, 2005) -- Clear Channel Entertainment's Motor Sports division announced today the 2005-2006 AMA sanctioned Regional and National Arenacross Series schedule. The AMA National Arenacross Series will kick off in Albany, N.Y. with the series finale returning to Denver, Colo., at Denver Coliseum for the first time since 2001. The AMA Regional Arenacross finale concludes in Green Bay, Wis., at the Resch Center.

A revised race platform will be implemented in 2005-2006 with a 'winner-take-all' format patterned after the THQ AMA Supercross Series. The new format will modernize the sport and makes it easier for riders to compete for an AMA National Championship. Racers will no longer have to compete in two classes to earn the championship.

"The 2005-2006 AMA Regional and National Arenacross Series schedule is the best it has been in years," said Todd Jendro, senior director of motorcycle properties, Clear Channel Entertainment -- Motor Sports. "This year we will bring arenacross back to some classic venues that have hosted legendary arenacross races in years past, such as the Denver Coliseum. The series will also stop at the traditional venues that have been successful tour stops for years, including Pepsi Arena (Albany, N.Y.); Wells Fargo Arena (Des Moines, Iowa); Lazy E Arena (Guthrie, Okla.); Metro Centre (Rockford, Ill.).

"Additionally, our schedule for the AMA National Arenacross Series is coordinated with the THQ AMA Supercross Series, so that the National Arenacross tour will wrap up before the start of the 125cc Eastern Regional THQ AMA Supercross Series."

Once again the AMA National Arenacross Series will continue to be shown on the leading motorsports television network, Speed Channel, in 2005-2006.

"The National Arenacross Series is a good fit for SPEED that fills a gap during a time of year when there is a dearth of first-run motorcycle events," said Robert Ecker, SPEED Channel VP of Programming. "We are pleased to once again offer this exciting series as a two-wheel winter fix for our viewers."

The AMA Regional and National Arenacross Series will also continue to showcase the amateur class during their Sunday events to ultimately bring the top amateur riders to the prestigious US Open for the Amateur Arenacross World Finals. Each of the six regions will qualify the top three riders in each class to compete at the Amateur Arenacross World Finals. In its fifth straight year, the Amateur Arenacross World Finals will take place at Las Vegas' MGM Grand Garden Arena October 9, 2005. The finals, which run in conjunction with the U.S. Open, will determine a world amateur arenacross champion in each of the 18 arenacross classes.
