AMERICAN SUZUKI HONORS 2010 DAYTONA SPORTBIKE CHAMPION MARTIN CARDENAS AND ANNOUNCES ELENA MYERS SIGNING

BREA, CA (January 20, 2011) -- American Suzuki Motor Corporation (ASMC) presented 2010 Daytona Sportbike Champion Martin Cardenas with a custom commemorative award and announced the signing of Elena Myers to a unique sponsorship program today at the New York International Motorcycle Show. Cardenas was presented with a custom, hand-built award commemorating the 2010 Daytona Sportbike Championship he claimed aboard his Suzuki GSX-R600. Cardenas will be stepping up for 2011 and campaigning an M4 Suzuki GSX-R1000 in the 2011 AMA Superbike Championship.

"Congratulations again, Martin," said ASMC's Senior Communications Manager, Steve Bortolamedi. "Suzuki is proud to present you with this custom-made trophy to recognize all of your hard work and efforts last year. And we all look forward to your season in the AMA Superbike class in 2011 aboard your M4 Suzuki GSX-R1000."

Bortolamedi also announced the signing of Elena Myers, who will compete in the 2011 AMA Pro SuperSport Championship aboard Suzuki's all-new GSX-R600. Her effort will be backed by a unique sponsorship program to help drive awareness of ASMC's social media efforts through SuzukiScoopFans on Facebook. Elena will interact with SuzukiScoopFans by selecting a fan comment from each of her post race updates and display it on the tank of her GSX-R600 for inspiration during the following race weekend.

Elena is contracted to Team Hammer, Inc. and will run out of the M4 Suzuki truck. Myer's will campaign a brand new 2011 GSX-R600 decked out with special SuzukiScoopFans facebook graphics. She will run the entire East and West Regions in the 2011 AMA Pro SuperSport schedule with the West Region being her home region for scoring points.

"I've been on facebook for a couple years now, and let me say, I'm a really big fan of it," said Myers. "It's been a great way for me to communicate and connect with fans all over the world. That said, I'm extremely excited to be riding for SuzukiScoopFans for the 2011 season. For me, it's an amazing opportunity because it'll help get my name out more to fans other than those of road racing, and also give me an even better way to connect with fans. On the technical side of things, I'm also very excited to ride the 2011 GSX-R. I have some of the best in the industry working on my team so the whole package will really be great."
