AURORA, Ill. (December 27, 2001) - Clear Channel Entertainment and KTM Sportmotorcycles announced today the return of the KTM Junior Supercross Challenge to the 2002 season of EA SPORTS Supercross Presented by Speed Stick.
KTM Sportmotorcycles offers the unique opportunity for 7-8-year-old kids to compete as a professional supercross rider for a day. During the intermission at each round of EA SPORTS Supercross the selected kids will compete on KTM's 50 SX Pro SR LC, a different model than years past. As part of this opportunity, kids will be given: Thor K-Style riding gear (pants, jersey, and gloves), a $100 U.S. Savings Bond (to help further the child's education), three passes (one rider, two mechanics), and full-factory treatment for the day.
"The continued relationship with KTM has allowed us to commit to amateur racing at its innermost foundation," said Roy Janson, vice president of operations, Clear Channel Entertainment - Motor Sports. "We're completely thrilled to be such an integral part of the start of racing for so many athletes and we look forward to supporting this program for years to come."
"KTM is excited to once again be part of the 2002 Supercross series by bringing the talents of young racers across the country to each event. Now six years running, the KTM Junior Supercross Challenge provides both entertainment and family involvement in the sport of motocross," said Selvaraj Narayana, KTM Junior Supercross Challenge manager.
To be eligible, each child must have at least one years of riding experience, and anyone who has competed in this event in years past is not eligible. Qualified applicants will be selected at random and will be notified at least three weeks prior to each event. Registration materials can be obtained from KTM dealerships around the country or mail a request to:
