Round 1 of World Supercross GP invades Geneva Switzerland's Palexpo 18 years of racing history lives on.

AURORA, Ill. (August 29, 2002) - Round 1 of the 2003 World Supercross GP sponsored by Thor and Parts Unlimited will take place at the Palexpo in Geneva, Switzerland December 7, 2002. There will also be a full event taking place on December 6, which includes a freestyle motocross exhibition, a 125cc Jr. support race and the 250cc riders will take to the track for their first practice of the weekend.

Since 1987, the Palexpo, which is located on the western boarder of Switzerland, Geneva has played host to the Geneva Supercross, and in the past two years the event has been part of the Clear Channel Entertainment-promoted National Arenacross Series. The 17,000-seat convention center will be transformed into a full-blown supercross track.

Based in the city of Geneva are 250 international organizations, including the International Red Cross Headquarters, the United Nations Headquarters and the World Health Organization. The backdrop to the city is the beautiful Lake Geneva and the towering Swiss Alps

"This unique facility has been the centerpiece of great racing for a long time," said Roy Janson, vice president of operation, Clear Channel Entertainment - Motor Sports. "Supercross greats such as Jeff Emig, Jeremy McGrath, and David Vuillemin have competed at Palexpo in front of sold-out crowds."

Tickets for this event will go on sale Saturday, September 14 at www.ticketcorner.ch and for more information on Geneva log on to www.geneva.ch.
