Picked this up on the net:
ARCA Driver Hudspeth Loses Hand HAMPTON, Ga. -- Mickey Hudspeth, one of four drivers injured in crashes Saturday during the ARCA General Tire Hoosier 500-kilometer race, had his left hand amputated at an Atlanta hospital.
Doctors at Georgia Baptist Medical Center spent two hours in surgery Saturday night attempting to save the hand after the driver from Ronda, N.C., was flown by helicopter to the hospital with the hand partially severed.
A spokesman at the hospital said the hand was amputated from the wrist down and Hudspeth was in good condition and was expected to be moved from intensive care to a regular room Sunday.
John Gill, injured in the same multi-car accident, underwent one hour of surgery Saturday night to repair a fractured bone in his upper left arm. Doctors said they also discovered two broken bones in his neck which did not require surgery.
Ron Burchette, who sustained a concussion in a wreck later in Saturday's race, remained in the hospital Sunday for observation. The spokesman said Buchette was "sore all over" but that no major injuries had been discovered.
Billy Standridge, also crashed in the ARCA race, but escaped injury. However, he was banged up later Saturday in a crash during practice for Sunday's NAPA 500 Winston Cup event. He was also flown to the hospital about 30 miles from Atlanta Motor Speedway and was checked and released.
