No stranger to the Springfield Mile, Brian Tyler looks forward to his
first ARCA REMAX Series Allen Crowe 100 start as part of a "Double-Duty"
weekend.
Concord, NC (August 12, 2008) - Brian Tyler will be making his first ARCA REMAX Series Allen Crowe 100 start this Sunday on the Springfield, IL one-mile dirt oval. The Mt Pleasant, NC driver is anything but a rookie around the famed Springfield track, having been a two-time winner of the USAC Silver Crown event at the Illinois State Fairgrounds.
"Springfield is a fun weekend, and full of tradition," said Tyler, who will be driving the Rich Woodland Racing prepared No. 25 Venturini Motorsports Toyota at Springfield. "So many great drivers have competed there, and you have the Illinois State Fair going on at20the same time. The track is fast, has two grooves, and rewards a patient driver."
Tyler will be doing "Double-Duty" this weekend, competing in both the Allen Crowe 100 on Sunday, and the Tony Bettenhausen 100 for USAC Silver Crown cars on Saturday.
Veteran ARCA REMAX Series Crew Chief Calvin Humphries will turn the wrenches for the No. 25 Toyota at Springfield.
"Calvin was with me when we set the track record at DuQuoin, and we're fortunate to have him available for the event," said Tyler.
The 2008 ARCA REMAX Season started with great promise for Tyler, but ended quickly when the Hattori Woodland Racing entry just missed qualifying for the Daytona 200.
"We started the season with high expectations, and a team we felt could challenge for the ARCA REMAX Series Championship," said Tyler, a two-time USAC Sprint Car Champion . "Unfortunately we missed Daytona, and that changed the direction we were all going in."
"Springfield will be my first start of the season, and we're looking to give Toyota their first ARCA REMAX Series dirt track win," added Tyler. "And a good run will help to offset our miss at Daytona."
