Rare Part Failure Relegates Allgaier Motorsports, Robb Brent to a 27th-Place Finish at Kansas Speedway

Kansas City, Kan. (September 30, 2010) -- Robb Brent, driver of the Orchard Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram -- Dodge Charger in the ARCA Racing Series presented by Re/Max and Menards, suffered a punctured oil line in the Kansas Lottery 150 at Kansas Speedway on Thursday afternoon, resulting in a 27th-place finish.

With one race remaining this season, Brent sits in the 11th position in the ARCA Racing Series point standings, just five points behind 10th-place contender Brian Silas.

Brent recorded the fifth-fastest time in Thursday morning's sole practice. Later that afternoon, the 23-year-old ran a lap of 32.304 seconds, an average speed of 167.162 mph, to earn the 14th starting position for the Kansas Lottery 150.

As the Shelby Township, Mich.-native started the race, he quickly gained two spots on the first lap before the first caution of the afternoon was displayed for a car spinning in Turn 2. When the field took the green flag again, Brent settled in and maintained his top-15 starting position. Brent's Dodge transitioned from loose to tight as the laps clicked off, as he wasn't able to get on the gas as quickly as he'd liked to. Crew chief Dave Leiner devised a plan to make air pressure and chassis adjustments for the next pit stop to allow Brent to have the drive off the corners that he needed.

On lap 37, disaster struck the July Ponoco winner when the spotter reported that he could see a trail of smoke when Brent went into Turn 1. The crew called Brent to pit road on lap 40 to put a set of fresh Hoosier Tires and fuel in the car, which allowed them to notice a pool of oil was left in the pit stall when Brent left. On lap 43, Brent returned to pit road and the crew tried to diagnose where the oil was coming from. Unfortunately, it wasn't an easy fix as one of the oil lines had a hole in it, forcing the team to take the Dodge back to the garage area to repair it. Brent returned to the racetrack after 15 minutes and tried to salvage what points he could. As the checkered flag waved, Brent brought his Orchard Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram across the finish line in the 27th position, 37 laps down.

"What a frustrating day," said Brent. "The Allgaier Motorsports, Orchard Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram team worked hard all day to give me a car I was comfortable with and to have our afternoon cut short before we were able to show our potential is just disappointing. With only one race left, we are in a tight points battle for the top-10, so next weekend at Rockingham Speedway will come down to the wire. I know this team is strong, just today wasn't our day."

Next weekend, the ARCA Racing Series presented by RE/MAX and Menards will head to Rockingham Speedway for the season finale on Saturday, October 9th.
