The 2014 ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards champion Mason Mitchell and Mason Mitchell Motorsports (MMM) will be honored Saturday night at the annual ARCA postseason awards banquet. The banquet will be held in downtown Indianapolis at the Indiana Convention Center.

“We have been extremely busy since the finale at Kansas” Mitchell stated. I spent a week in Iowa doing a media tour. I was able to take a victory lap through downtown Des Moines in the car we raced at Kansas that was really special. It was a privilege to be honored at my high school and have my car on display for the fans. I have been working on my plans for 2015 and working on the 2015 plans for MMM.”

Mitchell’s championship season consisted of one win at Chicagoland Speedway, 12 top-5 finishes, 18 top-10’s and five poles in 20 races. He also finished runner-up six times and led over 600 laps. The 20-year-old became the first Iowa native in 40 years to capture the ARCA championship and became the third youngest champion in series history.

Mitchell decided to form his own team last November just one month prior to the preseason test at Daytona International Speedway. The team raced the first three races of the 2014 season with a backup car that wasn't completely finished.

'A lot of pride'

“I take a lot of pride in what we accomplished in 2014. Everyone on this team has made so many sacrifices during the course of the year. We had a lot of sleepless nights working to finish cars but the end result was worth every second of it.”

Along with receiving the 2014 championship trophy Mitchell will receive the Fast Track Award, S&S Volvo Laps Completed, Hoosier Speedway Challenge, R.E. Lightning Challenge and the Menards Pole presented by Ansell award.

Mitchell made his NASCAR Camping World Truck Series debut in the finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway with his MMM team starting in the 18th position and finishing a respectable 16th. Mitchell is looking to compete full-time in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series or the NASCAR Xfinity Series in 2015.
