JOLIET IL (8-11-09) - On the way to a 100-mile dirt-track classic at the Illinois State Fairgrounds in Springfield Sunday, August 23rd, several top-notch ARCA RE/MAX Series teams will make a pitstop at Chicagoland Speedway for open testing Wednesday, August 19th.

The all-day open test will be held in preparation for the 9th annual Ansell Cut Protection 150 race event at Chicagoland Friday, August 28th.

Several top-notch drivers, attempting to get a jump on the race, are entered for the open test, including nine-time series champion/veteran Frank Kimmel and rookie Austin Dillon. Dillon is the grandson of Richard Childress, team owner of Richard Childress Racing. Dillon finished a career-best second at Michigan Int'l Speedway and Iowa Speedway earlier this year.

Kimmel is just 10 laps shy of leading 10,000 laps in ARCA competition, and just five wins shy of Iggy Katona's all-time win mark of 79. Kimmel, winless to date in 2009, won at Chicagoland in 2003.

Others entered for the open test include Brent Brevak, son of 1990 ARCA RE/MAX Series driving champion Bob Brevak, and Stuart Kirby, who makes his return to ARCA RE/MAX Series competition after a five-year hiatus. Kirby earned the Menards Pole Award presented by Ansell at Chicagoland in 2004.

Other test entrants include Patrick Sheltra (Indiantown FL), Grant Enfinger (Fairhope AL), Tom Hessert (Cherry Hill NJ), Todd Hansen (Farmington MN), Hal Martin (Galliano LA), Bill Eversole (Chelsea MI), Darwin Greene, Jimmy Nowell and Kent Schenkel.

In eight previous ARCA RE/MAX Series races at Chicagoland, there has never been a repeat race winner, nor has there ever been a repeat pole winner. Race winners include Ed Berrier, Chad Blount, Dawayne Bryan, Kimmel, Kyle Krisiloff, Steve Wallace, Michael McDowell and most recently Scott Lagasse, Jr.

On-track time for Wednesday's (August 19th) open test is from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm local time, with an hour break for lunch.

Practice for the Friday, August 28th Ansell Cut Protection 150 race event is scheduled from 4:10 - 5:30 PM Thursday afternoon, August 27th. A final practice from 8:00 - 8:50 AM Friday morning followed by Menards Pole Qualifying presented by Ansell at 12:10 PM will precede the race scheduled to go off at 5:00 PM Friday afternoon. The race is LIVE on SPEED.
