Hessert Wins ARCA Racing Series S&S Volvo Laps Completed Award

(TOLEDO, Ohio) - Tom Hessert and the No. 77 Cunningham Motorsports Dodge completed 2631 of a possible 2652 laps in ARCA Racing Series presented by RE/MAX and Menards competition this season, winning the S&S Volvo Laps Completed Award.

Hessert's teammate, Dakoda Armstrong, finished second by completing 2580 laps.

One point toward the S&S Volvo Laps Completed Award is earned for every lap completed by an ARCA Racing Series driver carrying on their car the decal of S&S Volvo & GMC Truck of Lima, Ohio. S&S Volvo is a participating company in ARCA's expansive, multi-tiered sponsor program.

Hessert, who finished third in the series standings, discussed the meaning of the S&S Volvo Laps Completed Award.

"The S & S Volvo Laps Completed Award is an award that reflects the consistency of my cars and the preparation that the crew did at the shop. It shows that we, as a team, were dedicated to racing smart," Hessert said. "Completing 99.2% of the laps in the 20 race season proves that Cunningham Motorsports worked diligently to make sure that my car and teammate Dakoda Armstrong's car finished the races.

"This backs up the saying 'To finish first, one must first finish.' By finishing the races, we put ourselves in a position to win races."

Hessert won at Iowa Speedway in July, and Armstrong won at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway in April and Salem (Ind.) Speedway in September.

Justin Marks finished third among participating drivers with 2157 laps completed in races in which he carried the decal. Mikey Kile finished with 2152 laps in fourth, and Steve Arpin was fifth with 1930 laps.

The 2010 ARCA Racing Series presented by RE/MAX and Menards Championship Awards Banquet will take place Saturday, December 4 at the Northern Kentucky Convention Center in Covington, Ky., near Cincinnati.
