Ebrahim and Malagamuwa had a difficult start to the season, with the car having to be towed back to the pitlane due to shortage of fuel in practice.

During first qualifying session, Ebrahim received another major setback when his Lamborghini Gallardo FL2 suffered a technical glitch, preventing him from setting a lap time.

The Indian was classified 15th place overall, with former Forumla 1 test driver Adderly Fong taking pole position in a Bentley Continental GT3.

For the second qualifying session, teammate Malagamuwa took over the car, going 13th quickest with a time of 2m15.354s.

At the front, Marchy Lee took pole position for Phoenix Racing, having lapped the Korea International Circuit with a time of 2m06.979s.

Class win despite technical trouble

In race one, Ebrahim steadily moved up the pack, fighting for a top 10 spot with GruppeM Racing’s Tim Sugden, before handing the car to Malagamuwa.

The Sri Lankan carried on the good work of his teammate until a mount on the front splitter broke, causing serious vibration in front of the car.

Despite the bonnet becoming losing as a consequence, Malagamuwa managed to nurse the car to take class victory and a respectable 11th place result in the overall standings.

Up ahead, Jonathan Venter and Keita Sawa led home a 1-2 finish for Absolute Racing, the latter passing its sister car with just eight minutes to go to take the lead of the race.

Davide Rizzo and Anthony Liu finished third aboard a Ferrari 458 Italia, 20 seconds down on the leading two cars.

DNF in race two

In race two, the Ebrahim-Malagamuwa duo hit more trouble, with the technical problems proving to be terminal this time. The drivers were forced to stop on track, creating a brief scare of a safety car.

However, the race continued without any such intervention with Venter and Sawa securing a double win, having passed pole-man Lee (Phoenix Racing) and fellow front-row starter Liu (BBT FerrarI) at the opening corner.

While Lee dropped back to fourth as the race progressed, Liu managed to hold on to third place, behind Liberati’s Huracan GT3.
