KCMG owner Paul Ip has confirmed 2013 entry

Founder and team principle of KCMG, Paul Ip was born in Hong Kong before moving to Canada at a young age. He started racing in Canada and USA, entering his first race at the age or 17 and further chasing the love he held for motor sports since his youth. He returned to Hong Kong in 2002, continuing his racing career as a driver in the Formula Campus and Formula Renault. Then when he started his post-graduate studies in the UK, he continued driving in different series including Formula BMW, Formula 3, Porsche Carrera Cup GB and Radical.

Also in 2007, Paul started his own motorsport company, KC Motorgroup Ltd., and organized the KCMG racing team to participate in the Asian Formula 3 Series. After Asian Formula 3 ceased operations, he moved most of his motorsport activity to Japan where his team continues to be actively involved in racing Formula 3, Formula Nippon and Super GT. Once KCMG firmly established itself as a power in Asian motorsport, KCMG decided to expand throughout the world and plans to participate in various international championships in the foreseeable future.

Question: As KCMG Team Principal why do you choose to enter Asian LMS in 2013? KCMG has entered many championships in Asia, but has not yet had the opportunity to participate in any Le Mans championships. Le Mans has a famous name in the motor racing world, and KCMG has always been very keen and interested in entering their events. My thanks goes to ACO and S2M for kicking off the Asian Le Mans 2013 championship and giving us a great opportunity to race in the new series which also provides us a chance to enter the prestigious Le Mans 24 hours. My goal is to enter the 2013 Asian LMS in this first year and look to race in the World Endurance Championship in 2014.

Q: Could you introduce your team and your objective for the 2013 Asian LMS? KCMG is a Hong Kong based Asian Team and we have had entered many championships in Asia. To give you a few examples of where we compete: Japanese Formula 3, Asian Formula 3, Formula 1, Formula Nippon, F3 to CTCC, Super GT, along with many others. My objective for the 2013 Asian LMS is to be the winner of the championship, and to be granted the entry of 24H LMS.

Q: In your opinion what is the most important factor for the success of Asian LMS? In my opinion, media promotion is the most important factor to make any event successful. The media promotion that Asian LMS has in place is impeccable and I am confident that it will help this championship grow in a very positive direction.
