The Ten10 Racing academy rider is one of the seven riders in the reserve list and the lone Indian for the 2017 season.
A total of 114 riders were put through trials at Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia, under the guidance of the series' Director Alberto Puig.
During the selection, the riders participated in two initial 10-minute sessions on Honda Wave Alpha 110CV bikes.
The young hopefuls aged between 12-20 years were gradually chosen to progress in the final group under the supervision of the selection committee.
In the end, 17 riders were selected for the next season, with further seven as reserves, in case any of the confirmed riders pull out.
Upon the completion of the event, Puig commented: “It was a long day, but finally we reached a decision.
"It’s always difficult because you can make mistakes, but we are happy with the selection.
"The weather was great throughout the day and no-one was injured, which are two important points.
"We hope to have a fresh group of riders next season and we are looking forward to 2017," he added.
Unlike last year, when Indian Ahamed Yanseen made it through the final list on his first chance, Sethu will have to wait for his opportunity as the season closes in.
The Chennai-based rider currently competes in the Asia Road Racing Championship's Asia Dream Cup category and also in the Indian National Championship.
