Fleming and Pecorari in Road America finale
Indianapolis, September 20th, 2006. -- Gelles Racing Champ Car Atlantic drivers Robbie Pecorari and Colin Fleming enter the last round of the 2006 Champ Car Atlantic Championship at Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin. Pecorari will complete his maiden season in the #28 Western Union car in the top North American ladder series where he captured a win at the Grand Prix of Toronto while Fleming will enter his fifth event in the #14 eSoles/King Taco car after he arrived from Europe. Fresh from a very successful testing day in the #51 Western Union Mazda-Cosworth machine, Chris Festa, the Atlanta-born racer, returned to Atlantic where he raced in 2004 but left for a two year hiatus in oval racing.
"We're very glad to have Chris test with us, explained team owner Bob Gelles. Although he just turned 21, he has a lot of Atlantic experience and comes with a family long racing tradition. He was quick in test sessions this week at Putnam Park and I expect to see him again with us very soon.
Robbie and Colin have been racing strong in the last three events but was missing the little edge that would put them at the front of the pack. Road America is the kind of facility they all appreciate and long to take their cars to the front."
Pelletier to Formula BMW Asia
Maxime Pelletier will represent Gelles Racing next weekend in China as he takes part in the last five Formula BMW Asia races. The next race for Maxime will be a double header linked to the Formula One race program held in Shanghai. The last three will be held two weeks later in Zhuhai, a facility where the Champ Car World Series will race next year.
Maxime will live an outstanding experience in China, says Gelles. We will have both of our engineers on hand and I am sure the young French Canadian will live up to our expectations. He finished third in the Rookie standings in the Formula BMW USA series but he always ran strong and learned a lot this first open wheel season; especially gaining momentum which established him as a front runner the last two events. This new venture to Asia will gain Maxime the confidence necessary to do well at the BMW World Finals in Valencia, Spain in November.
