Walker Racing Completes Testing at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca

Monterey, CA (March 8, 2007)- It was a mixed two days of testing for Walker Racing as they completed the last round of pre-season testing at the 2.238 Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca road course. Jumping behind the cockpit of the green and gold chassis were the newest members of the Walker Racing team, Swiss Simona De Silvestro and Brit Ryan Lewis. Joining the team for a second test was American Colin Fleming, who tested for the squad on the final day of the two day session. Fleming tested with the team for the first time back in December.

The test proved to be a learning experience for Walker Racing as they made a number of changes, logging a total of 438 laps equaling 938 miles.

Walker Racing heads back to their Indianapolis headquarters to fine tune the car in preparation for the Grand Prix of Las Vegas April 8th. For more updates on the team please visit www.walkerracing.com

What they had to say:

Ryan Lewis #15 Walker Racing /Mazda-Cosworth/Swift 016a./Cooper:

"We had a fairly strong weekend and definitely started to move in the right direction. This morning we started strong and had a similar pace, fourth to sixth quickest and again made some big changes throughout the day. It was one of those things where we ended up going the wrong way with the car."

Simona De Silvestro #5 Walker Racing/Mazda-Cosworth/Swift 016a./Cooper:

"We tried some different things with the car this weekend, but we never got where we wanted to go, we went a little bit in a different way. Unfortunately we never found what we wanted to find, but it was a test and each time we come away becoming more familiar with the car."

Colin Fleming, tested #10 Walker Racing/Mazda-Cosworth/Swift 016a./Cooper:

"Today was a bit unfortunate, we showed promise midday, but struggled on new tires, but unfortunately sometimes that happens."

Derrick Walker, Owner of Walker Racing:

"Overall I think we had the car headed in the right direction and made some changes that we thought were moving ahead, but for some reason at this point we haven't gotten the results that we thought we would have. Now we just go back a step or two and pick it up and try a different direction next time. Overall this is not what we thought we were going to have, but it's a test and that's why we are here, to learn what we can about the car."
