Campos Racing to join Auto GP field in 2011

Auto GP and Campos Racing are eager to announce the signing of an agreement that will see the team enter the Series in 2011. Managed by former F1 driver Adrian Campos, the Spanish outfit will line-up two cars on next season's grid, adding even more quality to an already outstanding Auto GP field.

Following the partnership with WTCC and the Eurosport live coverage announcement, this is again great news for Auto GP as Campos Racing is undoubtedly one of the best teams in European Motorsport.

Founded in 1998 when Adrian Campos decided to stop racing himself in order to commit to team management, Campos Racing started winning right from the first season of activity, clinching the Formula Nissan title with Marc Gene.

On the following year, the team launched a then unknown Fernando Alonso into Formula racing and won the title again with 6 wins and 8 pole-positions. After discovering a future F1 World Champion, Campos Racing retained the F.Nissan title also in 2000 with Antonio Garcia. The team then stepped-up to F3000 and in 2005 it joined GP2, the major F1 feeder series, quickly becoming a regular podium contender: the team clinched 3rd place in 2007 with Giorgio Pantano and in 2008 with Lucas Di Grassi, grabbing respectively 3rd and 1st place in the Teams Standings.

Those results were repeated also in the 2008 Asia Series, with third place for Vitaly Petrov and the team. Besides this, Campos Racing also took the the European F3 Open titles, drivers and teams, in 2008 and 2009 with German Sanchez and Bruno Mendez.

With such a record, there's no doubt that Campos Racing has everything it's needed to fight for the top spots right from its debut in Auto GP.

Enzo Coloni: "I know Adrian from a very long time, as his team started racing and winning with Formula Nissan, a car that was designed and built by Coloni Motorsport. Now more than ten years have passed and I'm very pleased to welcome him in Auto GP. The teams quality has been one of the keys to the Auto GP success, and adding Campos Racing to our field is another step in that direction. Adrian and his staff have plenty of experience of top-notch Formula Racing, so I'm sure that they will be competive straight out of the box".

Adrian Campos: "I believe Auto GP is the only championship that, also thanks to their agreement with Eurosport, can offer an high level stage for those drivers that have the skills and the experience to race as professionals but can't find a place in F1. Their system of prizes, their cars of nearly 600 bhp and above all the promotion for the sponsors assured by Eurosport makes me believe that they will organize an extraordinary championship. I am convinced that Coloni and Eurosport have really hit it on the nail and I feel proud to be part of this project and to work again with them. I am going to speak with the drivers that I have in my mind and to configure as soon as possible the team for this new challenge".
