EmiliodeVillota.com will be on the Auto GP grid

The Auto GP grid becomes more and more crowded day after day. The groundbreaking racing series, which from April will give the drivers a chance to fight for a 1.200.000 euros prize money, welcomes its latest entry, the Spanish team EmiliodeVillota.com Motorsport, fielding two cars.

The outfit bears the name of his founder, a very prestigious name in Spain as Emilio De Villota was the first spanish F.1 driver of the modern era. Very good driver in the 70s, De Villota had his best season in 1977 when he was even able to finish the Spanish Gran Prix ahead of Emerson Fittipaldi, driving a private McLaren car. In 1980, he managed to win the British F.1 Championship.

Today, De Villota manages his team with knowledge and passion, helped in the management by his son Emilio Jr. (who is also the Technical Director of the team) and his daughter Isabel. That's an example of a family business working very well, as the team clinched the Euroseries 3000 drivers' title in 2009 with Will Bratt. To guarantee a quality job, for the 2010 Auto GP season the team has decided to maintain the same winning technical staff, with Giorgio Breda as the "flagship". The Italian engineer was vital to Bratt's title last year, and was also following Davide Rigon when he won the Euroseries 3000 championship back in 2007.

Enzo Coloni: "We're looking at Spain with great attention because it's a fast growing scenario with lots of very talented drivers. That's why we are very happy to have Emilio De Villiota with us. It's proved outfit, and they already showed what they can do winning the Euroseries 3000 title in 2009. So, I expect them to be among the tiop runners also in 2010".

Emilio De Villota: "We really believe in Auto GP. I think that, looking at what you get now from other championships, it's very simple to see that no one can offer a better deal. You have performance, you have the prize money, you have a reasonable budget. Furthermore, for us being on the grid is a way to give our drivers a final step to GP2, after graduating them through F.Bmw and then F.3. Our objective for the season is to fight for wins. We already know the car, and we have everything it's needed to succeed".
