Ricci champion in Misano
Giacomo Ricci (Fisichella Motor Sport) has won in Misano the Euroseries 3000 and the Italian F.3000 Championship, the category organized by Coloni Motorsport. With the win in Race 1, the 22 years old driver from Milan has definitely conquered both titles, without needing this afternoon final race of the of the season. Ricci, started from the pole position, has dominated the race: first, he went away from the others, then he managed his advantage. Up to the end, the most challenging rival has been his team- mate Marco Bonanomi, started from the fourth row and finishing on the fifth placement: risen up to the third position after many fastest laps, he tried to get the second position from Petrov (Euronova). During the last lap, just after Arena chicane, Bonanomi has yet spun trying to overtake the Russian, loosing then two positions. And sanctioning Ricci 2006 champion.
Behind the driver from Milan, double placement for Euronova, with Petrov preceding his team-mate Jerome D'Ambrosio.
Excellent debut of the brazilian Diego Nunes, fourth with the Lola of Minardi/GP Racing team. The Southamerican has preceded under the chequered flag Bonanomi and Ippoliti.
Only seventh the southafrican Gavin Cronje (Auto Sport), started from the first row next to Ricci, but then forced to a drive through because of a jump start.
The young austrian Bianca Steiner (F.3000 Rookies' Team) has completated on the tenth position her first race in the category.
Tuka Rocha, fighting with D'Ambrosio for the fourth placement, has gone out at the Tramonto turn, overturning.
Happy, Giacomo Ricci said at the end: "I have won the Championship and the direct duel against my team-mate Marco Bonanomi. It has been a loyal and engaging battle, up to the end. He often beated me during practice, but I've been more constant in the race".
The drivers Matteo Cressoni (Vanni/Traini) and Francesco Dracone (Euronova), after yesterday accident during qualifying, couldn't take the start and had to watch the race from the pit wall.
