MP Motorsport enters series for 2011

MP Motorsport and De Jong join Auto GP

The 2011 Auto GP season looks more and more interesting as the series hails another new-entry: Mp Motorsport, from Holland, will enter the Series, with young Dutchman Daniel de Jong already confirmed as one of the drivers.

Based in Oudenbosch, 100 kilometres south of Utrecht, MP Motorsport started racing in 1995 focusing on the search of young karting talents and taking them to single-seaters.

From 2003, Mp Motorsport is one of the leading teams of the F.Renault 2.0 scenario, clinching wins, podium finishes and poles both in the North European Cup and in the Eurocup.

After a very successful campaing in 2010, with the team confirming its leading role also in the NEC's last race in Nurburgring with a brilliant one two finish, now MP Motorsport has decided to up their game, proving themselves with a much more powerful and complex car and competing against the best teams in motorsport.

Daniel de Jong, the first driver confirmed by the team for the Auto GP campaign, has a very strong relationship with the Dutch outfit, as MP Motorsport is the only team he has raced with from his debut on single-seaters in 2008. A 18 years-old from Rotterdam, De Jong comes from a very good 2010 season that saw him take one win, two podium finishes, two poles and three fastest laps in the North European Cup, while also clinching a 2nd place in the opening round of the Eurocup in Alcaniz.

Enzo Coloni: "I'm very happy of having MP Motorsport on the grid. For Auto GP it's very important to have an international and varied field, and with MP Motorsport we welcome our first outfit from Northern Europe, where lots of interesting driving talents are growing up. So this is undoubtedly good news for the championship. They will face the 'cream of the crop', but they are ready to take on the challenge and I'm sure that they will surprise many".

Sander Dorsman (MP Motorsport): "We're delighted to be taking part in AUTO GP this year. It's a fantastic championship and with live TV coverage on Eurosport of the races which support the World Touring Car Championship, it's great exposure. Also, our deal with Daniel is a perfect opportunity for us and we look forward working together with him again".

Daniel de Jong: "I'm really looking forward to trying out the AUTO GP car for the first time and, naturally, I'm very happy to be running with MP Motorsport. I've built-up a fantastic relationship with the team over the last few years and we've enjoyed some great success. I'm sure we can do well together in AUTO GP as well".
