Cosworth Racing News

Cosworth Racing has announced the appointment of Trevor Crisp as its new managing director. Mr Crisp is currently the group chief engineer for powertrain engineering at Jaguar Cars. His appointment follows the announcement that Jaguar will contest next year's FIA Formula One World Championship. He takes over from Dick Scammell who is retiring.

Mr Crisp has a long and distinguished record in the motor industry. He had a major hand in the development of all current Jaguar engines, as well as the famous V12 and XK six-cylinder Jaguar units. Early in his career he worked in Formula One, for Coventry-Climax, on racing engine development.

'I am delighted to be taking over at Cosworth Racing at such a fascinating and crucial time,' said Mr Crisp. 'Much of our attention will be focused on the new Jaguar Formula One programme for 2000 and beyond. But, as Cosworth Racing expands, there are many other exciting projects under way.'

Said Neil Ressler, chief technical officer of Ford Motor Company and chairman of Cosworth Racing: 'Trevor Crisp has an outstanding record as an engineer and as a manager, and I'm sure he will do a great job at Cosworth Racing. His experience will be crucial in helping to develop Formula One engines for Jaguar in the future.'

Mr Ressler also paid tribute to Dick Scammell. 'Dick came out of retirement to take over the managing directorship of Cosworth Racing a year ago, just after Ford Motor Company bought Cosworth Racing. He did a tremendous job in overseeing the transition of Cosworth Racing under Ford Motor Company ownership, and in managing a number of important projects such as the latest Formula One engine. We wish him well in the continuation of his retirement.'
