Hoosier Racing Tires of Lakeville, Ind. has announced it will supply the cost-effective spec tire for competition in USAC's 2002 dirt-track National Midget events. This completes Hoosier's total involvement in the USAC National Midget Series, which already has adopted a Hoosier spec tire for pavement.

"We are delighted that the USAC National Midget Champion and all other series participants will compete solely on Hoosier Tires in 2002," said Irish Saunders, Manager of Contract Tire Sales for Hoosier. "We realize the importance of the USAC National Championship and are proud to continue our affiliation with the world's most diversified sanctioning body. It's nice to know that we now have a nationwide tire program for the Midgets, with USAC's National and Western Series utilizing the same tire."

The opening event of the 2002 USAC National Midget Series is scheduled at Phoenix (Ariz.) International Raceway as part of the "Copper World Indy 200" weekend, also showcasing USAC's Silver Crown Series, the Indy Racing League and Supermodifieds. The 28-race National schedule released today by USAC reflects more than a dozen dirt-track events.

"This new Hoosier spec tire will create a cost reduction for our participants," added USAC Competition Director Mike Devin. "That's something we can all relate to and the resulting equality of the racing should provide for some spectacular racing."
