First unveiled to the world at last year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed in the UK, the Porsche 911 GT2 RS has finally made its way to India and is available for purchase at a price tag of Rs 3.88 crore (ex-showroom).

The 911 GT2 RS is powered by a 3.8-litre, twin-turbo, flat-six engine, enough to churn out 686 bhp and 750 Nm of torque. With that motor, the car can sprint from 0 to 100 km/hr in just 2.8 seconds before topping out at 340 km/hr. The power is channelled to rear wheels through a seven-speed, dual clutch gearbox.

Given its track-centric focus, Porsche has taken several measures to keep the weight as low as possible, 1,470 kg to be precise - and that’s with a full tank of fuel. The bonnet, front wings, exterior mirror casings, air ducts surrounds are all made of carbon fibre, while the roof is made of magnesium and the exhaust of titanium.

686 bhp and 1,470 kg translate to a staggering power-to-weight ratio of 466bhp/ton, putting the 911 GT2 RS firmly at the top of the iconic 911 sportscar range.

On the inside, the 911 GT2 RS comes fitted with red Alcantara, black leather and carbon-weave finish as standard. The sporty steering wheel is equipped with Formula 1-style paddle shifters and the driver and passengers can also enjoy the comfort of full bucket seats with carbon reinforced backrest.

The optional Clubsport package offers rollcage and six-point driver seat belt, while the chrono package includes an advanced Porsche Communication Management system that allows the driver to track his performance through parameters like laptime.

Pavan Shetty, Director of Porsche India, said: “This is a great day for sports car fans in India. The 911 GT2 RS is the concentration of Porsche’s motorsport expertise into one high-performance model that also masters everyday driving.

"Despite its superior racing dynamics, this top 911 model is as predictable and reliable to handle as any other Porsche. We are seeing an increasing demand for true sports cars in India, and with vehicles like the 911 GT2 RS, we are confident Porsche is well placed to meet that demand and offer a truly unique driving experience on the road and the racetrack.”
