Port Royal Speedway at Dirt Tracking show

On the heels of a very successful stint at the recent Pennzoil Motorsports Show, the Port Royal Speedway marketing team is poised to present the speedway at the upcoming Dirt Trackin' motorsports show to be held at the York, PA fairgrounds on January 26, 27 and 28. Speedway representatives race into the York speed show after garnering "Best of Show" laurels in the speedway/club organization category at the Pennzoil Expo in early January.

Continuing its partnership with the American Dairy Association/Dairy Council Middle Atlantic and its "Got Milk" campaign, Port Royal Speedway will once again be promoting the vital importance of dairy products at the show. "We are pleased to partner with Port Royal Speedway," says Patricia Purcell, director of advertising and retail programs for the ADA/DC.

"Racing is a popular family sport and it's a great venue to promote milk and all the health benefits dairy products provide."

Milk has become the official drink of the Port Royal Speedway and show goers will have the opportunity to meet 2001 Juniata County Dairy Princess Bobbi Jo Dressler at the show on Saturday as she hands out free milk from 12 -- 3 P. M.

Also on hand in York, as he was at the Pennzoil show, will be nationally renowned food sculptor Jim Victor of Conshohocken, PA. After molding a sprint car at the Pennzoil show, Victor will once again be producing a unique butter sculpture, this time taking on the likeness of 2000 sprint car and late model track champions Lance Dewease and Chris Shuey.

Using media provided by Land O'Lakes of Carlisle, PA, Victor will flank the champions with statues of sprint drivers Len Thompson, Mike Wagner, Shawn Keen and Keith Kauffman. Victor brings over 20 years of experience to his craft and has been responsible in recent years for producing butter sculptures for the Pennsylvania Farm Show.

Thanks to the support of many Port Royal competitors, several cars will be on display at this years York show. Expected to be in attendance are the machines of sprint drivers Lance Dewease, Len Thompson, Mike Wagner and Keith Kauffman along with late model pilots Scott and Mike Lupfer. Drivers will be signing autographs between the hours of 1 and 3 on Saturday.

Dirt Trackin' runs from 5 -- 10 P.M. on Friday, 10 A.M. -- 10 P.M. on Saturday and from 10 -- 3 on Sunday. Available at the show will be copies of the 2001 Port Royal Speedway schedule. Port Royal Speedway's opening day is set for Saturday afternoon, March 17th at 1 P.M. when a two division program of sprint cars and late models will be spun off.

In other news, speedway officials have announced a change in the tracks late model rules for the 2001 season. Speedway race organizers have released that there will no longer be a cubic inch engine restriction on the stock cars.
