SCCA membership at all-time high

CENTENNIAL, Colo. (February 5, 2002)-As of January 2002, The Sports Car Club of America, Inc. now boasts a membership totaling over 63,000. Officially at 63,368, the SCCA has attained the highest membership in its 58-year existence.

During the calendar year, the membership department processed over 44,000 membership renewals, over 17,000 new applications and collected $1.9 million in National dues. In addition, these departments collected and distributed more than $735,000 in Regional dues to the Club's 109 regions.

"The SCCA has experienced substantial growth over the past year due to the dedication of our membership and licensing divisions," said Steve Johnson, SCCA President and CEO. "The Club's future is bright and these numbers are very encouraging as we continue to move forward with increased participation and awareness. We hope to have 70,000 members by this time next year."

In the central licensing area, the number of competition license holders grew in all Club activities. The central licensing staff maintained records for over 100 license specialties, including 12,000 competition drivers and 8,800 licensed officials. The Club continues to have the most active worker base in motorsports world-wide.

The SCCA continues to groom top-notch, world-class drivers and race officials in the most diverse racing organization in the world. As the SCCA steams into its 58th year of existence, over 63,000 members within 109 regions across the country compete in over 2000 sanctioned events per year.
