Mineral Wells, W.Va.- West Virginia Motor Speedway will kick off the 2001 race season next month with the annual Mountain Dew Mama Classic as some of the most popular dirt late model drivers come to do battle at "West Virginia's Premier Motorsports Facility."

The 5/8-mile dirt oval will host its first event of the 2001 season May 11-12 as the Mountain Dew Mama Classic brings the "Daredevils of Dirt" to West Virginia. Three-time UDTRA Pro Dirt Car champion Scott Bloomquist, Rick Eckert, Davey Johnson, Steve Shaver and many others are scheduled to appear.

Friday, May 11 is Pepsi Family Night and features a 30-lap late, 2000.00 to $win, late model feature, and an AMRA modified "Road Warrior Series" race. General Admission is $10 and a Friday only pit pass is just $20. Children 12 and under are admitted free.

Saturday the 12th is the Mountain Dew Mama Classic. The 75 lap late model feature pays $15,000 to win. Also a $2000.00 to win Carolina Modified tour feature. General Admission tickets are $20 and pit passes are $35.

Earlier this year, West Virginia Motor Speedway was purchased by ProSportsAgency of Charlotte, N.C.

ProSportsAgency is a sports marketing, promotions and management agency and is headed by KC Spurlock and Bill Kentling. A native of West Virginia, Spurlock founded ProSportsAgency in 1999. Spurlock earned the nickname "Hollywood" when he was an NHRA drag racer. He is the first of only three NHRA pro racers to win their rookie start.

Bill Kentling was president of Heartland Park Topeka for nine seasons before joining ProSportsAgency as Chief Operating Officer. He brings a wealth of management and promotional knowledge to both ProSportsAgency and West Virginia Motor Speedway.

"We are very excited about working with such a great track," says Spurlock. "West Virginia Motor Speedway is a popular track and has so much to offer the fans. The diversity, quality, and affordability of the planned events assures our fans that they will always have an exciting time and see a great show.

"Fans deserve to have the best shows and concerts come to their track," continues Spurlock. "Sponsors, racers and sanctioning bodies are all excited about the fan-friendly environment and a full schedule of events."

West Virginia Motor Speedway hosts a variety of events each season. Monster Truck Mountain Madness, featuring Grave Digger and Megasaurus, is June 15-16 and the UDTRA Pro Dirt Car Series visits the track July 15. Other events will include demolition derbies, concerts and professional wrestling.

For tickets and race information, fans can call the track at 304-489-1889. West Virginia Motor Speedway's home on the Internet is www.wvmotorspeedway.com.
