A weekend of British F3 and British GT racing could see some changes to standings.
Carlin driver Jean-Eric Vergne is British F3 champ, but will his current score of 108.13 average points in the Sunoco Rolex 24 At Daytona Challenge keep all other Challengers at bay?
Only one of the four competing series -- the SPEED Sports Prototype Series -- is not on the track this bank holiday weekend.
That's both good and bad news for SPEED driver Jody Firth in Team WFR, in third place on 68.20 average points. His average points cannot drop, but depending on how well drivers in the other three series fare this weekend, he could go to fourth -- or lower.
If the drivers in places one, two and four -- Vergne, Radical's Ross Kaiser for 360 Racing and Trackspeed's David Ashburn in British GT -- max out on points, then we could see them climbing still further ahead.
But that "if" is large enough to drive the AAOIL artic through.
With so many variables, we could see Kaiser's co-driver Terrence Woodward -- currently in fifth -- increase his points from 63.75 and put pressure on those immediately above him in the standings. Shaun Balfe or James Calado in Radical and British F3 respectively could raise their games to edge into the Top 5.
Anything could -- and probably will -- happen.
The Sunoco Rolex 24 At Daytona Challenge is just entering its most exciting phase. In fact, with British F3 and British GT at Snetterton and Radical racing at Thruxton, this could be a crucial weekend in the Challenge.
