Donington BF3: Top 10 finish for Reddy, Rabindra

Tarun Reddy and Akhil Rabindra managed top 10 finishes in the season finale of the British F3 championship at Donington Park, while Krishnaraaj Mahadik injured his thumb during the weekend.

The final round of the season a diminished Indian line-up with Ameya Vaidyanathan absent due to clashing commitments in EuroFormula Open.

When the action began on Thursday with three test sessions, Reddy progressively finished ninth, eighth and seventh, while Rabindra was classified 13th, 11th and 16th.

Mahadik missed the middle session, but finished a promising eighth and twelfth in the other two.

Come qualifying, the Indian trio struggled for pace, with Rabindra, Mahadik and Reddy qualifying in 12th, 13th and 14th places respectively.

Top-10 finish for Rabindra in Race 1

Amid the drama caused by championship protagonist Ricky Collard and Enzo Bortoleto which brought out the red flag and the race to an abrupt halt, Rabindra managed to pave his way through the field to finish in 10th place.

Others’ results were less as impressive, with Reddy finishing 12th and Mahadik a lap down in 14th. The latter injured his thumb during the race, ruling him out for the rest of the weekend.

At the front, Matheus Leist went on to secure a comfortable win, with Harrison Scott and Ben Hingeley completing the podium.

Reddy jumps to seventh in Race 2

In race two, Reddy progressed from 14th on the grid to finish seventh, making some impressive moves en route to a top-10 finish.

Rabindra, in contrast, dropped down the order in the early laps before recovering to 12th.

Meanwhile, Toby Sowery passed Eugene Denyssen to claim victory, with Thomas Maxwell holding on a trail of cars to finish third.

Seventh for Reddy after fast start

In the final race of the season, Reddy made a blistering start, gaining three positions to move up to eighth.

The Indian eventually finished seventh, right on the heels of Collard and championship winner Leist.

Rabindra, meanwhile, finished on the cusp of top-10 in 11th position to round off a difficult sophomore season for the Lanan racing driver.

Up front, Sowery cruised to a second victory, with Ahmed and Randle filling up the other two spots on the podium.

Reddy misses out on top five in the standings

Reddy eventually finished sixth in the final drivers standing, having scored four podiums and 284 points in the eight-round championship

Rabindra was the next highest Indian drivers in the classification in 17th, having scored 124 points over the course of the season.

Mahadik and Vaidyanathan finished 20th and 21st respectively.
