EMMETT DENIED POLE IN DYING SECONDS

MonsterMob Ducati rider Sean Emmett will start tomorrow's races of the Think! British Superbike Championship at Brands Hatch from the front row of the grid having been denied pole position in the final seconds of this afternoon's second qualifying session.

The Londoner was well in charge of both qualifying sessions aboard the MonsterMob Ducati F04 but was bumped off by Suzuki's Yukio Kagayama and as a result will start from second on the grid for both of tomorrow's races.

Emmett however was happy with his performance: "I'm happy enough with that. We were dominating qualifying, went pole and we were 0.4 seconds up on everybody and had another tyre ready to go but between us we decided that we weren't going to get knocked off the front row so decided not to risk any injury or any engine wear and just sit it out. I'm not disappointed at all. I'm the only one doing 1m26's on race tyres and it's a different matter stringing twenty laps together on race tyres so I'm looking forward to tomorrow" said Emmett.

Meanwhile Michael Laverty will start round seven of the British Supersport race from row two on the grid having qualified in eighth position.

Having relinquished his championship lead at the last round the 23 year old Ulsterman will be looking to make amends on the Brands Hatch full circuit.

"I'm happy enough with a second row start. It's not ideal but I know I can make a good enough start in the race and run with the leaders. We've been struggling to make the bike comfortable this weekend but its getting better now and I'm looking forward to the race tomorrow" said Laverty.

Team owner Paul Bird commented: "That was good qualifying. We've got a good set up and haven't been chasing our tails for a race set up and we were able to get on the pace very quickly. Everyone is brimming with confidence for tomorrow. Michael's qualifying was OK as he struggled with confidence with the front end during the early part of the weekend but he's got faster and faster. Both riders should go well in the races tomorrow."
