Race Day Improvements For Emmett & Laverty

MonsterMob Ducati riders Sean Emmett and Michael Laverty left their woes of a traumatic qualifying day behind them when they impressed with a trio of good results in front of a bumper crowd at Mallory Park today in round nine of the THINK! British Superbike Championship.

Superbike rider Emmett hindered himself with a row four start but battled through to seventh in the opening leg before overcoming a race stoppage and two pace car interventions to bring the 999 F04 home in fifth place in race two.

"I'm pleased with the way I rode. It's always difficult in these stop start races with pace cars -- I've never seen so many flags! It was just the same as it's been all weekend really. To come from thirteenth on the grid through to fifth is good but I had to work for it, so I'm pretty happy. I've had two good rides and got some good points and kept it upright. It's onwards and upwards from here and on to the next round at Croft" said Emmett who is now in fifth in the standings.

Meanwhile Supersport rider Michael Laverty maintained second position in the championship courtesy of a fourth place finish in today's race.

The 23 year old Ulsterman started from row two of the grid and led the race early on before having to settle for fourth position at the end of the 28 laps.

Laverty is now some 36 points off championship leader Karl Harris but remains upbeat going into the next round at Croft.

"That was hard work for the position I was in. To be riding that hard I would expect to be at the front. The track didn't seem to suit our bike, so I will just have to be happy with fourth position" said Laverty.

Team owner Paul Bird had the following to say:

"The weekend got better. The racing was certainly better than the qualifying! Sean rode well and we couldn't ask any more of him. If qualifying had been a bit better we could have been in with a shout of a rostrum. It's a difficult circuit for the Ducati, but it was three good points scoring rides. We're happy enough."
