Lange widens gap in points with three main event wins in Denver

(Denver, Colo.) February 14, 2004 - Clear Channel Entertainment's Motor Sports Division announces the results of the 10th round of the National Arenacross Series Brought To You By Locally by Colorado Powersports and McDonalds at the Pepsi Center in Denver, Colo on February 13 - 14, 2004. Coming into the weekend, current points leader, Darcy Lange had a 71 point lead over Tommy Hofmaster. With three out of four main event wins, Lange widened the gap between first and second place to 85 points. In Saturday night's 125cc main event, Lange went down early in the race, but moved his way back up to a third place finish.

The high altitude of the mile high city played a toll on the riders. To get ready for the event, Justin Brayton went through specialized training in California in a pressurized tank to get used to the altitude. Almost all of the riders were out on the track a day early to test their bikes on the track to see how the high altitude would affect their endurance and their bikes. Although the altitude was an obstacle for everyone, it affected each rider differently. There were some new faces on the podium this weekend. Chad Johnson ended up picking up two second place finishes in the 250cc main event on Friday night and the 125cc main event on Saturday night. In the 250cc main event, Johnson finished third.

Next weekend in Sacramento, Lange has a chance to capture the title on Saturday night. The biggest competition will be between third and fourth place between former 125 Supercross Champion John Dowd and the young gun Justin Brayton.
