AURORA, Ill. (October 17, 2003) - The Maxxis U.S. Open, the world's richest motocross race, was once again held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, NV. As expected, the top professionals from the THQ World Supercross GP/AMA Supercross Series were on hand. Chad Reed finished first overall for the two-day event.

The big surprise was the effort put forth by 2-time defending National Arenacross Series champion, Josh Demuth. Demuth finished sixth overall, just behind perennial Supercross stars Reed, Ricky Carmichael, David Vuillemin, Ernesto Fonseca, and Mike LaRocco.

The track itself was comparable to the track design found on the National Arenacross Series. In the smaller arena type settings, the tracks are shorter, tighter, and more demanding on riders. With the similar style track, Demuth's experience and familiarity allowed him to adjust to the track setup.

"All of us with the National Arenacross Series are extremely proud of Josh," said Mike Kidd, vice president and founder of arenacross. "He (Demuth) proved that he has the talent and skills to race on the highest level in the world. In addition, this illustrates the quality of talent that compete in the National Arenacross Series."

With the Maxxis U.S. Open now in his rear view mirror, Demuth now has his sights set on winning his third straight National Arenacross Series championship. The opening round, November 7-9 in Albany, N.Y., kicks off the 20th season of the National Arenacross Series.

A press conference, previewing the upcoming 20th season is also scheduled for the opening round in Albany. Demuth, along with former 5-time National Arenacross champion, Buddy Antunez, and former 125cc Supercross Champion, John Dowd, will discuss their competition for the upcoming season. The conference is scheduled for Friday, November 7, from 11:00a.m. until 1:00p.m. Please contact Traci Raymond or Denny Hartwig with any further inquiries about the press conference or the first round in Albany.
