Pontiac Silverdome and Clear Channel Entertainment Announce Relationship Through 2003

AURORA, Ill. (December 12, 2001) - The Silverdome in Pontiac, Mich., and Clear Channel Entertainment's motor sports division have confirmed that Clear Channel Entertainment's Supercross Series will be on the schedule through 2003.

The 80,325 seat Pontiac Silverdome, who is home to the Detroit Lions and four Clear Channel Entertainment motor sport's events annually, has been host to record-breaking crowds since it was first built. It has the unique distinction of serving as the host site for Super Bowl XVI in 1982...the first NFL classic played outside the Sunbelt. In addition to its motor sports events, concerts, NFL football games, and home shows, the Silverdome hosted a NBA crowd of 61,983, as the Detroit Pistons hosted the Boston Celtics.

As one of the longest standing supercross venues on the schedule, the Pontiac Silverdome is an integral part of supercross history with a record-setting crowd of 63,043 in 1997. Well known for its amateur supercross races and long-standing relationship with the Michigan Motorcycle Dealers' Association (MMDA) and the Motocross Racing Association (MRA), the Pontiac Silverdome supercross dates have always had great racing and have always been a destination point for amateur riders.

"I am very pleased to extend our long-term relationship with Clear Channel Entertainment's motor sports division and supercross," said Greg Roberts, director of event marketing and services for the Pontiac Silverdome. "With Clear Channel, we have always had extremely successful events, and we look forward to our future relationship with their company promoting and producing our motor sport's events including supercross."

"What supercross has achieved at the Pontiac Silverdome is a testament to the amateur riders and the great fans of Michigan. The Michigan Motorcycle Dealers' Association is going on their 27th year of sponsoring and coordinating the amateur supercross at the Silverdome, and the amateurs riders have helped elevate our sport to the next level," said Charlie Mancuso, president of Clear Channel Entertainment's motor sports division. "The confirmation of the Pontiac Silverdome through 2003 is another staple on our Clear Channel Entertainment supercross schedule."
