Maurice Lacroix on pole for Powerboat P1

Powerboat P1 Management Ltd is pleased to announce that Swiss watch-makers Lacroix Watch

Maurice Lacroix will become the Official Timing Partner for the 2010 World Championship. Maurice Lacroix, founded in 1961, will also receive global naming rights to the Grand Prix of the Sea PowerPole, which will be known as the Maurice Lacroix PowerPole for the 2010 season.

The landmark deal for Powerboat P1 will see the fastest team from each Evolution and Supersport class receiving one of Maurice Lacroix's exclusive Chronographe Valgranges timepieces, which retails at GBP2,500, at every Grand Prix of the Sea race.

The Friday PowerPole qualifying session is the prelude to each event's race action and determines starting positions for both the Sprint and Endurance races. The Zurich-based manufacturer will also donate another of its sensational watches for the "Maurice Lacroix Moment in Time" to mark the most outstanding performance during the season at the series' end-of-season awards ceremony.

Powerboat P1 Chairman & CEO, Asif Rangoonwala, welcomed the watch manufacturers to the championship, promising stakeholders that this latest milestone will be the first of many, ahead of the 2010 series. "Our breakthrough partnership with Maurice Lacroix is evidence of how far the championship has come in just seven years," he said, "Its watches are of the highest quality and our two companies have important similarities in their business values, most notably in that innovation and market reputation are priorities."

Maurice Lacroix is known to only associate with sporting winners such as 15-time Grand Slam tennis victor, Roger Federer, 2007 European Tour Order of Merit champion golfer, Justin Rose, and England 2003 Rugby World Cup winner Mike Tindall. "Powerboat P1 is honored to be the latest addition to this prestigious list of winners," added Rangoonwala.

Managing Director of Desco Luxury Watches, the UK importer for Maurice Lacroix, Mark Sutcliffe said, "Maurice Lacroix is delighted to be appointed as the official timing partner to the Powerboat P1 World Championship. The exciting Powerboat P1 circuit is organized and participated in by confident individuals who have certainly followed their convictions in striving to be the fastest on water and investing in this unique sport. The combination of state-of-the-art engineering and authentic, contemporary design in the powerboats match perfectly with Maurice Lacroix's brand identity; the synergy with an independently owned engineering business made this an easy fit for Maurice Lacroix."
