Steve Montgomery Joins ABRA Marketing and Public Relations

Seattle, WA (June 3, 2009) ABRA Chairman Sam Cole announced today that Steve Montgomery and his company Montgomery Marketing and Communications have joined the ABRA's Public Relations and Marketing efforts.

"This isn't much of a change," explained Cole, "As Steve has been very helpful to the ABRA along the way, whenever we needed help staging a banquet, producing a video, or anywhere else he cold help. This just makes his status a little more official and allows us to make more use of his experience and expertise as our series grows domestically and internationally."

Montgomery will team with Bruce Madej Director of ABRA Public Relations with all

ABRA Public and Media Relations, with Madej on site in Madison, Detroit and Evansville. Montgomery will staff the Tri-Cities, Seattle, Kelowna and Qatar events. The two will combine efforts to expand the series public relations effort, as well as increasing the series web presence, social networking, and other opportunities in electronic and print media.

"In Bruce and Steve, we have two of the best sports information professionals I know on our team," added Cole. "Steve will also be helping us on the marketing side, finding and working with series and team sponsors. This is an area where he has one of the best track records in the sport, and we are excited that he has agreed to work more closely with us."

Montgomery commented, "If we can get just a few of the many irons that Sam has in the fire to glow a little brighter, we can see big changes in this sport in the next few months. I look forward to working with Sam and the ABRA team to make it happen."

Steve Montgomery has been involved with Unlimited Hydroplane Racing since 1974, when he anchored his first radio coverage of Seattle's Seafair Race on KIRO Radio. He has announced the Seattle race on radio or television every year since then. Montgomery was the Public Address announcer at the Tri-Cities event for 15 years, and did all 11 of the races at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, as well as races in Phoenix, Dallas, Houston and others. He is best known for anchoring ESPN and SPEED Channel coverage of Unlimited racing in the 90's. Behind the scenes, he has been active in public relations and marketing roles throughout his 35 year association with the sport.
