Jones returns to rallying for season finale
Welshpool based Stuart Jones will make a welcome return to British Rallying when the talented 24 year old contests the final round of the 2009 MSA British Rally Championship, the International Rally of Yorkshire, at the wheel of a Mitsubishi Evo X.
Stuart and co-driver Andy Bull began the 2009 season strongly with a fine third overall on the International Rally of North Wales but then a lack of budget halted their championship bid. A recent outing in Iceland, where Stuart won the International Rally Reykjavik encouraged the former Peugeot Super cup Champion to return to the British Rally Championship for the final round.
The support and encouragement people have given me all season long has been incredible. I've been following the BRC all year and would have loved to have been involved in the title fight but at least now I have the chance to come out and play in Yorkshire.
I'm under no illusions about this weekend. We are on a really tight budget and I haven't done the rally for a couple of years but I have a great team behind me and we'll just go out there and do our best.
Stuart will be contesting the International Rally of Yorkshire in a car owned by former Icelandic Rally Champion Daniel Sigurdarson, which has been built and will be run by SJR Motorsports with assistance from Lico UK, Petronas Lubricants, Rally Insurance, PIAA, Rallytech and Nunns Mitsubishi of Grimsby.
The 2009 International Rally of Yorkshire will be based once again in Pickering and will consist of nine high speed stages through the famous Yorkshire forests of Dalby, Cropton and Langdale. The whole event takes place on Saturday 26th September with the first car away at 08:40am.
