SUNSHINE.CO.UK MD READIES FOR SECRET MILLIONAIRE JOURNEY

After a season spent cheering on Paul O'Neill and John George in the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship, sunshine.co.uk MD Chris Brown will take centre stage himself this Sunday (17 October) when he appears on the hit Channel 4 show, The Secret Millionaire.

Chris' appearance on the show comes on the back of Fleet-based sunshine.co.uk's rapid growth to become the largest independent travel agent in the UK, with title sponsorship of the Tech-Speed BTCC team for the past two seasons having played a role in boosting the profile of the company.

In the space of just five short years, Chris has gone from setting up a travel website in his bedroom to running a company with an annual turnover of £35 million -- making him the ideal candidate to appear on the reality show which sees millionaires take on a secret identity and go undercover in deprived areas.

At the conclusion of the show, the millionaire then reveals their true identity before pledging money to those who they feel to be most deserving following their time undercover.

Posing as a photographer, Chris went undercover in an area of Manchester blighted by high crime levels and anti-social behaviour.

During his time undercover, Chris visited Talbot House - a support centre for parents with disabled children -- and had to face painful memories from his past when reminded of the realities of alcoholism following a visit to homeless charity, The Mustard Tree.

His father tragically took his own life when Chris was growing up, having faced his own battle against alcoholism.

As well as a personal journey, Chris' appearance on the show gave him the opportunity to show how hard work can allow someone to make a success of their life having started with nothing.

"I'm not someone who was born into money and I've had to work hard to get to where I am today," he says. "For me, going on The Secret Millionaire was a way to show people how they can make a success of their life, although it is true that there is also a personal element to the journey I found myself on.

"There is no doubt that appearing on the show is one of the most difficult things I have done. Of course there were some painful memories because of my father, but it was also hugely draining to take on the pretence of being someone else and see the struggles that some people face.

"While appearing on The Secret Millionaire was anything but easy, it gave me an opportunity to look at myself as well as other people and the experience has certainly changed me."

To see who benefitted from Chris' generosity, tune into The Secret Millionaire at 21.00 on Sunday.
