D'ALBERTO BOUNCES BACK AT BATHURST

Tony D'Alberto has stormed through the field to finish 6th in today's second Fujitsu V8 Supercar Series race at Mt Panorama Bathurst.

After failing to finish yesterday's opening race, due to a broken steering rack sustained in a first corner clash, the 21 year-old Victorian was relegated to start from grid 28 today.

Tony had a huge challenge on his hands with his Series points lead being cut to 26 points in the first race and closest rival, Michael Caruso starting off grid 2 today.

A powerful drive saw Tony climb through the field to position 12 before a late-race Safety Car closed the field for the final run home.

Tony continued to forge his way forward in the closing laps and ended up in 6th position at the end of the race.

"That was a great race," Tony said.

"We have had the car speed all meeting but we didn't get to use it in a race until today.

"The result was a good reward for the hard work everyone in the team has put in."

Tony scored 18 series point for his effort while Caruso succumbed to a mechanical problem that dropped him out of the points for Race 2.

"It was an emotional roller coaster this weekend," Tony said.

"We suffered a set back yesterday and Michael had a problem today.

"I am just so relieved that we ended up with a good result."

Tony now carries a 44 point lead into the final round at Phillip Island in December.
