COMA AND SCHLESSER GET CLOSER TO THE FIM AND FIA WORLD TITLES

After a new victory, Marc Coma can almost smell the World Title. He is now the overall leader but his main rival, Chaleco Lopez, is only 27'' away. Another stage win for Traglio/Lurquin, while Jean Louis Schlesser keeps his pace to reach the FIA Cross Country Rally Two Wheel Drive Trophy.

Siwa -- The rally caravan arrives to Siwa after completing the fifth stage of Pharaons Rally 2010. After a 419 km of special section starting next to Sitra'4s bivouac, crews and riders are now next to the Great Sand Sea in Siwa. At the finish, Marc Coma signs his third stage victory of the race and the crew of Maurizio Traglio/Fabian Luquin get the second one on a row.

It was in a fast stage with some dunes that Marc Coma showed the power of his wonderful skills on his 690 cc bike. The Spanish was the fastest in the stage, followed by Chilean rider Francisco Lopez, 4'423'4'4 behind. After this result, Marc Coma takes back the time lost in the beginning of the race and takes the top position overall one day before the end of the race and gets closer to the FIM World Title.

But the final victory of Pharaons Rally 2010 has not been written yet. Before the final stage, Chaleco Lopez is only 27'' away from Coma while Helder Rodrigues is 9'430 from the leader. The Chilean and the Portuguese show their talent on their 450 cc bikes and won'4t let the possibility to climb the standings tomorrow.

Today, two promising riders quit the race: Joan Barreda broke the engine 40 kilometers before the end of the special and Alex Zanotti lost control in a bump and crashed the bike. Fortunately, the Italian was not hurt in the incident.

Marcos Patronelli gets his fifth consecutive victory in Egypt. The Yamaha rider aims to keeps his pace to get to the finish line tomorrow.

In car, second consecutive victory for Tecnosport. Maurizio Traglio/Fabian Lurquin carried out the perfect stage and crowned their performance with the best time of this stage.

Last year winners Jerome Pelichet/Eugenie Pelichet obtained the second best time of the day, followed by Jean Louis Schlesser/Arnaud Debron and Jun Mitsuhashi/Alain Guehennec.

After the result, the Buggy Schlesser keeps heading the overall classification and the Tecnosport'4s Nissan Pathfinder is 1h29'415'4'4 behind.

The best Egyptian crew of the day was Ahmed El Shami and his English co-driver Paul Round in the seven position of the scratch. The crew is 8th overall.

Tomorrow all crews will run the last stage of Pharaons 2010: A fast stage that will take competitors from Siwa to the podium in El Alamein.

They said... Bikes:

Marc Coma: "My goal was to be the fastest to arrive to the refueling. I got there and as always, I keep pushing to make the difference. The disadvantage is that tomorrow I will have to open the road for the last stage."

Francisco Lopez: "It was the perfect stage for 690 cc bikes. Tomorrow the stage will be alike, so I have to control to keep my second place overall."

Jakub Przygonski: "I had to control my road book manually until the assistance point. There, my mechanics fixed it and I could continue normally."

Quads:

Marcos Patronelli: "Lots of sand today. It was easy but also dangerous. So far I have a big time difference with the second quad (Rafal Sonik), so I have to stay focused to finish my first race in Africa."

Cars:

Jean Louis Schlesser: "I rolled well until km 120 before getting in a dune trap. I stood there long time before another competitor came to help me get out..."

Maurizio Traglio: "A second consecutive stage victory, like I like it. I didn'4t have any problem on the stage."

Eric Vigouroux: "We didn'4t get off the car during the day. We finally made a good stage."
